mamaya, okay?, meaning later, okay?, in taglish (english + tagalog) is a current and probably never-ending investigation into Parbs’ Filipinx heritage, and a laborious battle in reclaiming the culture that has been mostly absent in her life. Each piece is a result of language learned and history explored, however small that may be, using imagery sourced from a very limited stash of photos taken during her sole trip to the Philippines, as well as photos of her multiracial family in its beginnings. Using printmaking and other tactile processes, Parbs navigates her relationship with herself and others, bringing intimate details to the tangible surface.
